Welcome to New Day Charter School!

Are you looking for an option to the traditional public school? Would you like to continue to achieve academically, but in a more flexible and independent environment that allows the pursuit of college classes, part-time employment or internships? If so, New Day Charter School may be the right school choice for you. Students at New Day Charter School that demonstrate proficiency in reading, mathematics and science have the opportunity to pursue other areas of interest while working toward their high school diplomas. If you haven’t yet achieved proficiency in these subjects, teachers at New Day will help you reach that goal. You can also continue to enjoy any extra-curricular activities you now participate in at your current school. We invite you to look at the many options that are available to you at our unique school. Thank you for considering New Day Charter School as your school of choice!

Important Weather Notice for Parents/Guardians and Students:

With cold weather approaching, we are once again faced with the possibility of weather-related work-from-home days.  We want to remind all stakeholders that New Day Charter School does not cancel school for weather-related emergencies.  Instead we do weather-related work-from-home days.

Work-from-home days require our students to call or email attendance between 6 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. and to complete their work for the day by logging into Canvas and completing the day's assignments on the Canvas calendar.

Because students who attend New Day Charter School live in different home districts, and delays/school cancellations can vary from District to District, the logistics can get pretty confusing.  We have made every effort to simplify what to do on weather-related days.

Parents/guardians and students should look to the following guidance on days that you believe weather will lead to home district cancellations or delays:

CLOSING: (Watch/listen to local news/radio stations)

New Day Charter School - Huntingdon Site

If Huntingdon Area School District is CLOSED OR under a THREE (3) hour delay, ALL NDCS students that attend the NDCS Huntingdon Site will work from home.

If the student's HOME DISTRICT is closed or under a THREE (3) hour delay (regardless of the status of Huntingdon Area School District/NDCS), that student will be work from home regardless of any other factor.

New Day Charter School - Mifflintown Site

If Juniata County School District is CLOSED OR under a THREE (3) hour delay, ALL NDCS students that attend the NDCS Mifflintown Site will work from home.

If the student's HOME DISTRICT is CLOSED or under a THREE (3) hour delay (regardless of the status of Juniata County School District/NDCS), that student will work from home regardless of any other factor.

DELAYED START: (Watch/listen to local news/radio stations)

If a student’s home district is on a 1 or 2 hour delayed start, and their NDCS site is not closed, transportation will pick up the NDCS student at the later “delayed” time of that district and transport to NDCS. The revised class schedule will be posted on the New Day Charter School website.

EARLY DISMISSAL: (Watch/listen to local news/radio stations)

If a student’s home district is on an early dismissal, transportation will pick up the NDCS student from the charter school at the district’s early dismissal time and transport the NDCS student home.

All NDCS whole-building closings will be added to our website and Facebook page.

Phone and/or email notifications from New Day Charter School will be announced via the One Call Now phone messaging system and will also be posted on the NDCS website at www.newdaycs.org.

Students and parents should check with their usual information sources for listings of school closings, delays, and early dismissals including television, radio, or school robo call notifications regarding their home district’s weather emergency status.
