Online Programs Outreach Coordinator.
New Day Charter School has an immediate opening for a full-time Online Programs Outreach Coordinator. Fundamental Duties/Essential Functions:

        A.    Community Relations

1.      Develops proactive means of reaching the community with information about the activities, events, and programs of the District and its schools.

2.      Coordinates multi-faceted public information program

3.      Promote and celebrate student work through online video sharing

4.      Coordinates the media outreach function of New Day Charter School (News stories in local papers/Shares stories with other media outlets)

5.      Oversees the District website and social media platforms.

6.      Executes broad spectrum messaging for weather alerts

 

B.      Programming

1.      Develop student news team

2.      Develop news stories on the news cycle

3.      Edit and publish student work to YouTube

4.      Create a unique journalism program

5.      Motivate and encourage students to read, write, speak, and listen effectively by tapping into their interests

6.      Develop critical thinking skills of students through effective use of the news medium


                C.      Staff Coaching/Building Technical Foundations

1.      Works to cultivate relationships, expand partnerships, and recognize contributions that support and enhance educational programming

2.      Set up cameras in classrooms and train students to film teachers/edit video to be posted online

3.      Design and set up media room to be used for editing/film work

4.      Set up green screen and lighting

5.      Maintain equipment and develop technology budget

 

                D.     Canvas Implementation

1.      Film, process, and upload teacher instruction onto Canvas

2.      Provide consistency for onsite and distance learning curriculum

3.      Build the framework and foundation for expansion of our distance-learning curriculum

4.      Enhance communication between school and home through the use of video

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

     Ability to support and guide students.

     Knowledge and support of New Day Charter School’s vision and mission.

     Ability to orally communicate effectively in English in all levels of group and individual contacts.

     Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using English as the primary language.

     Ability to establish effective working relationships with the administration and Board of Trustees membership, as well as staff, students, parents and the general public.

     Ability to present ideas logically in writing to include good proofreading, spelling and written grammar skills.

     Ability to operate in MS Word, MS Excel and other technology related areas.

·        Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004, Chapter 14 of the School Code and relevant department bulletins and Basic Education Circulars.

·         Willingness to travel, give presentations and attend meetings as required.

·         Knowledge of management (strategic) planning processes.

·         Ability to present oneself in a business-like manner to include personal appearance and a pleasant demeanor to others.

·         Ability to lift and carry packages and equipment up to 40 pounds.

·         Ability to apply concepts and information acquired from meetings, conferences or related literature to accomplish project goals.

Qualification Standards

·         Education:  Possess a Bachelors degree in Communications or related field with five years of work experience in the area of television broadcasting.

·         License:  Possess a valid driver’s license to operate in Pennsylvania.

Employee Status

                ·         Non-certificated (non-professional) employee

                ·         Full-time 12 month position with primary building located in Huntingdon.  Other site locations are operated as needed and the incumbent is required to visit those sites as deemed necessary.

Role Relationships

The Online Programs Outreach Coordinator for New Day Charter School shall report directly to the Principal of New Day Charter School.  In the absence of the Principal, the Online Programs Outreach Coordinator shall report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
